Unhappy Hastings Video Customer

© Copyright 1997, Jim Loy

I'm disgruntled (without gruntles) with the local Hastings Video store. They and I have had our differences (See Unhappy Sierra Online Customer). But, it was just so handy to have a bookstore that is open until 11 PM, that I decided to go easy on them.

I just bought a cassette (Tangerine Dream's Optical Race), not realizing that I already had a cassette of it. The next day, I noticed my mistake. And, Hastings wouldn't take it back, because I had thrown away the sales slip. The tape is right here, in front of me, in its original clear plastic wrapper, with the little rectangular price sticker still on it.

Hastings have lost a customer.

Addendum:

Of course Hastings has not lost a customer. They are just too handy for my book buying "needs." But I am still upset with them four years later. In my childish efforts to punish them, I look through their electronic book catalog and order through a different book store. And I have read about a dozen books, while sitting in their comfortable chairs, rather than buy the books. Now it is frustrating to be half way through reading a book, when they sell their last copy out from under me.
