Finders Keepers - by Mark Bowden

Book Review, © Copyright 2002, Jim Loy

Perhaps you are old enough to remember the TV program, The Millionaire. It was fiction, but it made us think. Each week, someone was given a check for one-million dollars, and we saw how it changed his/her life. Some did good. Some were foolish. Some ended tragically. Some, it was hard to tell. A few refused the money. In real life, Joey Coyle found a bag of money ($1.2 million dollars), that fell off a truck. The money belonged to a casino. Joey couldn't believe his good luck. He spent a lot of it. And he gave a lot away. And then, the law tracked him down, and he was tried for grand larceny. He was acquitted. And his story became a movie. To some he was a hero; to others he was a fool. In the end, he committed suicide. What would you do, if you found a million dollars?
