Murder In Cormyr - by Chet Williamson

Book Review, © Copyright 1998, Jim Loy

This book is part of the Forgotten Realms series of fantasy (which is comprised of many books by many authors). This one is a murder mystery. I like the concept of combining mystery with fantasy (or science fiction). Some people say that such a concept doesn't work, because the author can just throw in magic or a new invention to solve the crime. Well, any author can cheat. It doesn't have to be science fiction or fantasy. The good authors don't cheat (except maybe for comic reasons, as in Dr. Who).

This book is a good mystery, told very well. It just happens to take place in a medieval land where people believe in magic. The story is often amusing, as the narrator is something of a joker.

I liked this story, very much.
