The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - by Douglas Adams

The books, the radio series, the TV series, and the movie which never gets made are all classics. Douglas Adams, who died recently, is widely regarded as one of the great comic minds of recent millenia (at least). And The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (in most of its versions, which even included a computer text adventure game) is his greatest creation. It tells the story of an amazing book called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. As you may know, the story begins shortly before the destruction of the planet Earth by the Vogon Constructor Fleet, making room for a hyperspace bypass. Earthman Arthur Dent's life will never be the same again. But as he and his Betelgeusian friend Ford Prefect rush from certain death to really certain death, to really really certain death, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tells them, "Don't Panic!" Throughout the stories, we never really find out what effect not panicking will have. The books in this series are listed below.
