Billings

CSN Radio operates two translators in the Billings area. The transmitters are fed by satellite, with the outputs combined into a single antenna.

CSN and The Effect Translators
Upper translator is a Crown FM250, K217EM on 91.3 MHz.
Lower translator is a Crown FM100, K213DY on 90.5 MHz.

The combined transmit antenna is on the left side of the tower at the 180-foot level.

Bozeman

At the Quinn Peak Electronic Site, northeast of Bozeman, we maintain translators for Yellowstone Public Radio and Reier Broadcasting. We installed the new K268AS translator for CSN in December, 2006.
Quinn Site
The translator receives the 91.5 MHz signal from High Flat. The receiving antenna is out of the picture to the left. The transmit antenna is on a mast at the center of the photo.
CSN K268AS Translator
The CSN equipment is in the small rack on the left. The receiver is a Fanfare FT-1AP. The transmitter is a Bext LEX-30, set for 12 Watts on 101.5 MHz. The transmitter/receiver pair on the right is a translator for Hi-line Radio Fellowship.


Gallatin Gateway

At the High Flat Electronic Site, southwest of Bozeman, we maintain two full-power FM stations, KBMC and KKQX, as well as the CSN translator.

K218DN Translator
Translator K218DN is a Crown FM100, operating on 91.5 MHz.

Missoula

In August, 2007, we were asked to remove an old translator at the Waterworks Hill Electronic Site, just above Missoula.

Waterworks Hill Site
In this "Before" photo, the ANT-90 transmit antenna is located at the 33 foot level.
Equipment Rack
In the rack were two satellite receivers, two transmitters, and a diplexer. The upper transmitter was for K212DE, while the lower transmitter was for K204EV.
Joe Bowers
Joe Bowers is the local chief engineer for Cherry Creek Radio in the Missoula market.
Jim on Tower
In this "After" photo, Jim has moved the transmit antenna to the 44 foot level, and is securing the coaxial feed line to the tower.
Missoula Translator
The equipment rack now has one satellite receiver and one transmitter. The Crown FM100 powers K204EV with 48 Watts TPO.
