On Aug. 4, 1908, John T. Sawyers put in a claim #45052, in favor of the Eastern Cherokees for monies being paid. In it he stated his claim was thru his mother, Huldy Sawyer (note spelling, the "s" was no longer being used) nee Brasher, whose parents were Aquilla and Frances (nee Henderson) Brasher and her parents were Jim and Lila (nee Taylor) Henderson. This has been the problem trying to solve where the Indian came from, as Frances Henderson Brasher is listed in the will of Ezkiel Henderson as daughter. Where the Jim and Lila came from we don't know. The claim was rejected for several reasons, one, the family filed late, and two, they showed no proof of their ancestors being enrolled in any tribe . All of the children of James H. and Frances Mahulda Sawyer filed but none were accepted.Monica Ruttledge
