William Eidson, the son of Charles W. and Matilda Josephine Willett Eidson, was born about 1872 in Missouri. The family does not remember William, who had died without heirs when his brother's estate was settled in 1962. However, in 1926 his brother, Paul Augustine, wrote asking where he was and saying that the last he had heard of him, he was in Kansas City. William is believed to have been the William Edison who married Ida Cobb in Jackson County, Missouri, in 1902. In 1930 one William B. Edison, wife Ida B., worked for the Standard Floor Covering Co. in Kansas City as a salesman. In 1932 he lived at 1701 Cass Ave in Evansville, Indiana, in the same house occupied by his nephew in 1990.

I believe you are researching the same William Edison I have been trying to locate for some time. My grandmother (Ida Bell Cobb) was united in marriage to a William Edison on August 6,1902 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. I have very little information onWilliam other than he was born in Kentucky and I think his middle name was Paul. He may also have a sister named Annie who lived in Kentucky. My mother (Bernice Estelle Edison) was born on July6, 1903 and William and Ida separated shortly before or after her birth. Ida moved with her infant daughter to the Washington State and did not return to Kansas City until 1910. My mother never knew her father and any information you have on William Edison would be greatly appreciated. Also can you enlighten me with the change of the name from Edison to Eidson, I have info on the Cobb family if you are interested.

He is a native of England, born in London, May 6, 1850, a son of E. and Jane (Hargraves) Davis, natives of London, where the father was a shopkeeper. In 1869 the Davis family immigrated to America. E. Davis, the subject of this sketch, came to Kansas in 1869 and, after spending a short time at Lawrence, came to Butler county in the spring of 1870. When he came here Emporia was the terminus of the railroad, and he walked from there to Butler county. He located on a claim of 160 acres of Government land, two miles east of Towanda, where he remained a few years. He then bought The Towanda "Herald", and conducted that paper for eight years, and at the same time was engaged in other pursuits, as the income from the paper was not sufficient to justify him in devoting all his time to that enterprise. He then sold the "Herald" and came to Whitewater and began publishing the "Independent", which he has conducted all these years. It is one of the substantial and progressive newspapers of the county. Mr. Davis was married July 30, 1887 to Eva Fay Eidson, a native of Wisconsin. To this union have been born the following children; Emily J. Fay, born July 24, 1888; Eva A. May, born June 29, 1890, Edmond Dillion, born September 4, 1892; Esther B., born September 8, 1900; Eidy, born January 26, 1903; Ela Francis, born October 18, 1905; Elridge Charles, born March 23, 1908, Earldon Enola, born November 25, 1910. Mr. Davis is well known throughout Butler county and is one of our most substantial men of affairs
