Charlie RODGERS (son of John B. and Mary) was married twice, first to Lizzie Dickerson (or Dickinson), near Stone Mountain, GA. Their children: Floyd, Della, Mary and Cass. Lizzie died abt 1891 and the children were placed in the care of Grandmother Mary Ann while Charlie searched for work. Charlie came to Newton Co. and married Lou HINTON and changed the spelling of the name to ROGERS. Children: Dovey (b. 1894), Ida Ruth (b. 1896 d. 1925), Ollie, Lavada (b. 1902), Flo, Runie (b. 1907), J. C. (b. 1910 d. 1965 in FL), Louise and Grace. Many of Charlie's descendents still reside in Newton, Walton & Gwinnett Co. Charlie and Lou's final resting place is Sardis Cemetery, Hwy 81 between Oxford and Walnut Grove GA surrounded by many of their children and grandchildren.
Lou HINTON ROGER's mother was Edna "Edney" EIDSON (b. 14 Apr 1846 d. 13 Feb 1919 Newton Co. buried at Macedonia Baptist Church), father was William H. HINTON (b. abt 1845 d. abt. 1875 Newton Co., buried at Salem Primitive Baptist Church in unmarked grave). William and Edney married in Newton County 20 Dec 1866. After William Hinton's death, Edney married George Lackey in Newton Co. on 21 Aug 1881. Known children by William Hinton were: Lizzie, James E. (b. 1871) & Lou Ida Hinton (b. 1873). No children by George Lackey. Edney's father was Boyce EIDSON (b. abt 1790 in SC) of Walton Co. GA. Boyce is descended from the Eidsons of VA. Records inidicate a first wife in abt 1815 who gave Boyce a daughter (name unknown). In 1834, Boyce took 2nd wife Marina Jones in Walton Co. GA. In 1844 Boyce married Sabathesy Duncan in Walton Co. Boyce's children as listed on the 1850 Census of Walton Co. - Broken Arrow District, were James W. (b. 1836 of 2nd marriage), Enoch ( b. 1841 of 2nd marriage - died in the Civil War), Elden Eldridge (b. abt. 1844 of 3rd marriage, m. Harriet Camp abt 1876, 2nd m. Mary Womack in 1883), Sarah Atlanta (b. 1849 - she never married and was deaf & dumb), Rowland H. (b. 1851) and Emily (b. 1853, married J.F. Calvert in Newton Co. in 1879). In 1860, the family is found in Newton Co. GA. Boyce evidently died before the 1870 census as Sabathesy is shown alone on the 1870 Newton Co. Census. We have not been able to locate a burial site for any of these Eidsons except for Edney & Sarah, who are buried at Macedonia Baptist Church near Oxford.
