The Enterprise Methodist Episcopal Church Methodist services were inaugurated in this vicinity by William and Henry Eidson, the latter a local preacher, and a class of which the present church is the outgrowth, was organized in about the year 1835, at the house of said Henry Eidson. Meetings were held there for several years, and then a log meeting-house was built on Eidson's farm, and occupied until the present church was built. The building is a brick, and was completed and dedicated December 27 and 28, 1856. The society seems to have subsequently almost entirely disbanded as there has been no regular preaching for some thirteen or fourteen years prior to 1878, when the class was re-organized with only eight members.

The preceding will of Henry Eidson and the above history of the Methodist church are courtesy of Mrs. Julie Green of Lebanon, Ohio. Mrs. Green visited Henry and Nancy's final resting place in 1992 and described it as follows: I visited Nancy and Henry's grave site. The cemetery is located near the ruins of the old church that Henry Eidson presided over. Her headstone was broken at the name and date, but I copied what I could read. It lies next to Henry's grave.

The home of Rev. Henry and Nancy Bunch Eidson, in Eaton, Preble County, Ohio, was built in 1843 (just four years before Henry’s death). In time it become the property of Henry’s grandson, Griffin H. Eidson, and when he died in 1827 the property passed to his wife Parmelia J. DeGroot Eidson. When Parmelia died in March 1905 the house was auctioned at a sheriff’s sale and purchased by the city of Eaton for $5,666.66. In 1906 the house was remodeled and the upstairs became the Eaton Library. As the library grew it became necessary in 1955 to remodel the lower floors allowing the library to move downstairs in June of that year.

December 15, 1959, the Eaton Public Library became part of the Preble County Districy Library and in 1960 received the Dorthy Canfield Fisher Award for this accomplishment.

Finally, in 1974, it was determined no longer feasible to repair the old Eidson property so it was leveled to make room for the new library that stands there today.

"Aunt Betsy" Eidson is gone. Though not unexpected to many, yet the news of the death of grandmother Eidson on Thursday afternoon last, was received with emotion of regret that one so long and favorably known in this community has passed away. Mother Eidson was in her
89th. year, and had lived in Eaton about 60 years. No one ever died in this community leaving more friends to morn -- though she had not a relative of the flesh in the community. Though dead, she still lives in the hearts of the people.
