Dear Patch family,Hi, my name is Brian from a suburb in Chicago, I saw the story of Brandon last night and I was in tears. What a senseless and horrible tragedy! My thought is that aluminum should be banned after little league, simply because the pitchers aren't throwing as fast, after that the bats are simply too juiced to have any place in baseball. They could maybe use them in softball, but it looks like it all comes down to money. Everybody wants to be a hero and these bats give them that "false" feeling of being Barry Bonds, when in reality they would of hit a routine pop-up to the outfield. You can equate it to steroids in a way, the bats are a performance enhancer and should be banned immediately. The piece was great and it let people know of Brandon's story and it really touched me, although I don't play baseball anymore, it is by far my favorite sport. Thanks for getting the word out and good luck to you in your endeavors to ban the bats. One death is enough for a kid playing the sport he loved, God bless you! You are the real heroes and I hope that Brandon is the pioneer behind the gobs of legislation to make these performance enhancers illegal, and to know that your son didn't die for statistics of players getting a "false" sense of making it big time by "juiced" bats.
