I've been hooked on roses since the 60s. I got my lovely wife Debbie hooked on them and she ends up doing 90% of the work taking care of them. This is the ideal situation for a spoiled, lazy rose lover. I do get to help her on weekends and we spend many wonderful hours together with the roses and other flowers we have.
I'm a fragrance and foliage nut so I tend to rate fragrant, lush roses higher than others so take that into account when you read my descriptions.
Most of our roses are Hybrid Teas but we also grow Floribundas, Climbers, Shrubs and Miniatures. We winter protect them by mounding soil and mulch at the base.
Several sites have been invaluable while building our site.
Helpmefind.com is a wonderful resource when researching roses. One of the first places I check when looking for information about a rose.
EveryRose.com is another good online database I have used researching roses.
The GardenWeb Rose Forum and Rose Gallery have been great places to learn about roses. Most folks there are great people and if you can ignore the few snobs and wantabe knowitalls.... they are nice places to visit.
Timeless Roses
Barrie Collins has created one of my favorite rose sites. I believe it was the first rose site I ever bookmarked and remains a great site. TimelessRoses also has the Rose Gardener's Search Engine. Excellent for researching roses. Timeless Roses is no longer on the web but I couldn't bring myself to delete it here. Perhaps one of these days I can link it again.
Please excuse the condition of the site. I keep changing my mind about what I want to include here and the descriptions on most pages are sadly lacking. The site is still mostly photos from before 2003 and I am updating as fast as I can. I am trying to keep the site as fast loading as possible for folks with slow connections so there aren't many frills. The gray background? I tried all kinds of colors and settled on gray because it doesn't take away from the roses... the fancy backgrounds I made up take too long to load and pull the eye away from the roses. I try to concentrate on giving an accurate picture of how the roses we grow in Montana perform. I only recently became aware that Internet Montana had listed us on their Hotspots list so maybe that will light a fire under me to get the place in order. I hope you enjoy your visit if you have found our hideaway and don't trip on any of the stuff lying around during construction.
