Hybrid Tea 1985 Astor Perry

Pink blend - 35 petals

Granada x Helmut Schmidt

ARS rating 7.2

Description

Verdict: Very good rose - Liked the colors when I saw a photo at the ARS site years ago. Watched for it a couple years and finally found a healthy one. Wish I had bought both that were at the nursery that day.

Acquired: 2000

Brand: Weeks

Bush

Growth habit : 4 ft tall x 3 ft wide - good, steady grower with nice foliage.

Leaves:

Disease Resistance: Blackspot is only a problem here on stressed plants. Powdery mildew is the main problem and I try to spray the roses that get pm with fungicide every 2 weeks or so when we have cool, dry nights. Elmhurst will get pm if not sprayed here. Not a pm magnet but it will show up and the bush has gotten pretty well covered when I was real lazy.

Hardiness: Decent - I always mound mulch on this critter because I like it so much. No cane dieback below the mounding.

Blooms

Fragrance: Mild - occasionally moderate

Flushes: Good - 20 to 25

Repeat: Average - 6 weeks

Vase life: Good - a week+

Silly Stuff

Both of Elmhurst's parents have been good roses for us too. Wish Granada had given Elmhurst more fragrance.
