Chrysler Imperial is a Gamble Fragrance Award winner and has been a favorite of mine since the mid 60s when I got my first one. CI has the strongest fragrance of any rose I have ever smelled. One bloom will fill a room with aroma.

Description

Verdict: Excellent stinker! :)

Acquired: 1994

Brand:

Bush

Growth habit : 4 to 5 ft tall x 3 ft wide

Leaves:

Disease Resistance: Blackspot is only a problem here on stressed plants. Powdery mildew is the main problem and I try to spray the roses that get pm with fungicide every 2 weeks or so when we have cool, dry nights. CI will get pm if not sprayed here. Not a pm magnet but it will show up.

Hardiness: Good - survived several winters with no protection. Performs ever so much better when protected.

Blooms

Fragrance: Very, very strong

Flushes: Good - 20 to 35 blooms

Repeat: Good - 5 to 6 weeks

Vase life: Good - about a week - too many in a bouquet is almost too much fragrance.

Silly Stuff

First new rose we planted here. I always look for CI when I move to a new home and Chrysler was the 1st for my gottahaves that I found.
